Comic Fiesta 2012

This post has been pending in my draft for so long, finally I'm gonna complete and post it today.

Comic Fiesta, the most important ACG event of the year in Malaysia. This year is the 10th year of Comic Fiesta. I started attending Comic Fiesta since 2008 till now, every year I went for both day except last year which something unexpected happened.

This year's CF venue is same with last year, which is KLCC Convention Center. As usual, I will be driving there myself because it will be more convenient for me to arrive and leave anytime without waiting for LRT. As usual too, I park at the parking lot at Jalan Perak, just beside Wisma UOA 2. I just need to walk across the road and it's KLCC Convention Center's entrance. Every time there is event at KLCC Convention Center, I will be parking my car there because it's per entry, instead of parking in KLCC where the parking rate increases every hour. The parking price there is RM10 per entry as I remembered, but this time it's RM8 on Saturday and RM5 on Sunday. Normally I will go CF 30 mins before the gate opening time, but on Saturday, I reach there kinda late, around 10.15am because I woke up kinda late. Yesterday night went out yumcha with my RO buddies - 1 came from Kampar for CF, 1 came from Singapore for CF and 1 going back Singapore today. We had few hours of blow water session at Steven's Corner Setapak until late night.

So on day 1, I reached around 10.15am, the gate already opened for awhile. I already bought my early bird ticket last few months ago during AniManGaKi, so I do not need to queue for tickets this year. There's a lane for people who already had tickets, so I went into the hall quickly and smoothly. I around the hall for few rounds, bumped into some friends. Then I went to Culture Japan booth to queue for the touch n go card. Just when I'm almost reaching the booth, they announced that the touch n go card is sold out. Then I continue to walk around. Around 2pm I went back to the stage for Danny Choo's Culture Japan session. After that I continue walk around and bumped into other friends. Today I also brought some of my YUI albums to lend my friend to rip. so whole day I just keep walked with my friends until I bump into other friends and keep repeating. I didn't plan to buy other stuffs, so the doujin booth don't really attract me, but my friends spent a lot there, literally. I also met many friends who cosplay. Around 7pm, we quickly went for dinner and went back there because it's bless4 concert soon! The concert was so awesome, the songs were great even though I've never heard them before! Before the concert ends, all the audiences went up to the stage and high-5 with all bless4 members!

On Day 2, nothing much special happened. The best part is the stage performance in the morning by Mystical Mirage. After that I just simply walk around and bump into different cosplay friends. Didn't really take any photo in both day.

In the 2 days of Comic Fiesta, I only bought the movie tickets of Naruto and Fairy Tail movie. The movie will be aired at Cathay Cineplex, e@Curve on 5th January. Other than that, I did not spend any money in the convention center.

Anime Festival Asia 2012

this post is just my experience of AFA12, not a full coverage of the event. this post is full of my own opinions, if you feel uncomfortable while reading just close it.

AFA12 was held in Singapore Expo from 9/11/2012 to 11/11/2012. Finally this year I am able to attend AFA in Singapore. The previous few AFA I wanted to attend but couldn't because need to go college. For now, I already graduated from college and still unemployed. Therefore, this year I'm free to go there! The main reason I wanted to go to AFA this year is to attend the concert. This year AFA Anisong concert has lots of awesome artists coming to Singapore to perform, and the few artists I'm interested are T.M.Revolution and Sphere. So I bought the 3 days basic package in October via online and started planning my trip to Singapore. Firstly I asked my aunty that stays in Singapore whether I'm able to stay in her house during the few days, and I got permission. Next is to buy bus ticket. I didn't bring much cash there, because I didn't plan to buy anything due to the currency exchange rate is so high.

Day 0
So, on 9/11/2012 morning, my mum fetch me to the bus office at Bangsar at the morning. I'm taking the 11.30am bus, and estimated to arrive Singapore by 4.30pm. At the bus office, I met one of my secondary schoolmate unexpectedly. She's going to Singapore also and we're on the same bus. The arriving time was delayed probably because of heavy rain and traffic jam. I reach the destination around 5.40pm. My initial plan was to put my luggage at my friend's house then go to Singapore Expo for concert, then after concert return to get my luggage then only go to my aunty's house. However, due to the delay, I couldn't do that. I waited for taxi at Novena Square since 6pm, until 7pm only I'm able to get a taxi. From there, it took me around 35 mins to reach Singapore Expo. Yes, I brought my luggage along to the concert, no choice. After reaching Singapore Expo, I thought I made i, since the concert supposed to start at 7.30pm and I'm only 5 mins late. However, everything turn out to be so different from my expectation. The queue to collect ticket is sooooo long. Yes, just to collect the ticket I purchased online, not to buy ticket on the spot. I queue for 40 mins to get my ticket, when I get into the concert hall is already 8.15pm. Friday night is the solo concert of T.M.Revolution, as this is also their first performance in other country outside Japan. I missed about 6 or 7 songs. Fortunately, those songs I missed are the songs I'm not familiar with. All my favourite songs were sang after I get into the concert hall. The concert was just awesome, even though I missed some part. After the concert, I went to McDonald's @ Changi Center Point, then I took bus to my aunty house.

Day 1
Next day, I reach Singapore Expo about 10am. My aunty fetch me there after having breakfast. The queue to buy entrance ticket is very long also. I actually wanted to buy the ticket yesterday. The counter to purchase ticket was totally empty yesterday, but after I collected my concert tickets, it's already 8.10pm and the counter closed at 8pm. I didn't queue for the ticket immediately. I walked around and saw some of my friends that came from Malaysia. They are the members of M.V.P and they just came to Singapore Expo right after getting down from the plane. I sit down and talked with them for awhile, then I saw the long queue was gone then I went to buy the entrance ticket. The festival ticket is $8 for one day and festival+stage ticket is $20 for one day. I bought festival+ stage ticket for 2 days. After going in the AFA hall, I can see many booths having long queue, especially the Sword Art Online booth. My friends queue at the booth since 9am until around 2pm still not yet able to go in the booth. almost all of the merchandise are sold out by the time they reach the booth. Yesterday when I was queuing to get the concert tickets, the guy in front of me told me he's gonna queue overnight to be the first few person to get in AFA hall in order to purchase items at SAO booth, because purchasing over $50 at SAO booth, they can get a ticket to get LiSA's autograph, and it's limited. Frankly speaking, I'm not interested in buying things, so most of the booths I just walk pass. The booth that get my attention is the Anime Karaoke booth, people can sing at the booth using an application on Mac to see their score. I stand at the booth for quite some time. Another booth is Sony Music booth, because they are selling official merchandise of YUI. I was so tempted to buy, but managed to control myself. For stage events, I didn't camp at the event hall, so I missed many events. The few one I watched were the appearance of I Love Anisong concert Artiste - fripSide, m.o.v.e and LiSA, HoriPro showcase - Sea*A, May'n and Kishio Daisuke.

In the concert, the first group to perform is BABYMETAL. I've never heard of them until today, and their songs not my type also. They're like a group of lolis at the age of 13/14. Next is m.o.v.e. I also never heard of them, but their songs are great. They sang theme songs for Initial D and Ikkitousen. motsu's english is quite good and he interact with us a lot. Next group is fridSide. It's the first time for this and the previous 2 group to perform outside Japan. fripSide sang theme songs of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, Hayate no Gotoku movie. After fripSide is LiSA, which most people are waiting for this. Today's concert hall is totally full, unlike yesterday still got many empty spaces. So many LiSA fans in the concert. However, the set up takes too long, until about 10.40pm only LiSA get on stage. The concert was supposed to start at 7pm to 11pm, but delayed till 7.30 only start. LiSA has been to AFA last year, but this is the first time I watching her live. I don't know all the songs she sang, only some. After LiSA, many people left the hall to catch MRT because it's already 11.20pm. I didn't care and didn't bothered to leave because I'm taking bus, or worst then I walk back, since it's only 4km away from my aunty's house, because next is FLOW! I've became their fans since watching their concert during AFAMY. Since m.o.v.e start performing I've been jumping and shouting, and even ran out to buy glow sticks. even during fripSide and LiSA also still jumping and shouting. I was so exhausted, but continue jumping once the "Jibun wo" started. They even sing a cover of "Zankoku na Tenshi no These".

Day 2
I won't write about the booths in day 2, since I'm not really interested, but one booth I must write about it, which is the SAO booth. I mentioned earlier, I met a guy when I queuing for concert ticket during T.M.Revolution concert. During yesterday's concert, he was sitting right behind me, and I had a talk with him before the concert starts. After T.M.Revolution concert, he really stay at Singapore Expo and queue overnight, and he managed to get the ticket for LiSA's autograph. From what he said, around 3am in the midnight, there's already around 50 people queuing at the entrance of AFA. Around 5am+ when the first train arrived, it's already over 100 people queuing. Right after he bought his stuffs, he straight went home to sleep and come back for the concert. This explains why my friends queue for over 5 hours still can't reach the booth. And all SAO booth items were sold out one first day, second day they're not selling anything, just displaying items at the booth.

For the stage event, I went there late today because I was having lunch with my Singaporean friend at Tampines Mall, so I missed Kamiyama Kenji's presentation, but I guess it will be similar to what he presented during AFAMY. When I went in the event hall, Danny is having an interview session with Nishihara Fumiaki, the editor-in-chief of Lis Ani! magazine. After this is Bushiroad Stage, I'm not interested so I left the hall again. I return around 2.30pm for I Love Anisong concert Artiste appearance - May'n, Kuribayashi Minami, Sea*A and Sphere. Before the event starts, the crowd all rushed in front the stage with their cameras. When they appeared, the crowd went so hype. So basically just some introduction of themselves and answering some questions. After this, the other artists left, except Sphere because next event is Sphere special stage. If I'm not mistaken, it's also streaming live on nico nico douga. Danny and Yoshimi had a short interview with Sphere, then Sphere performed live dub anime on stage. It's really amazing, especially Toyosaki Aki's voice. Every time Toyosaki Aki speak something, the crowd was shouting so loud, so obvious that she has more fans in the hall than the other 3 Sphere members. and yeah, I'm also her fans xD After Sphere stage, next is Danny Choo's presentation. As usual, Danny Choo's presentation is great. He really inspires me a lot. Too bad I can't attend Culture Night Singapore tomorrow night because I will be going back tomorrow morning. After that, I just anyhow walk around and wait till concert time.

The first one to perform in today's concert is Hachioji-P. He's a vocaloid producer. I don't really know about him, because I'm not into vocaloid, but I know many of my friends from M.V.P are his fans. Next is Sea*A. This is the second time I watch their performance, the first time was during AFAMY. Frankly speaking, I don't like their songs. For me, they are just like some idol group. After Sea*A is Kuribayashi Minami. I always see this name and I did listen to some of her songs but can't really remember from which anime. The few songs that I know that was sang today are Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line, Shining Days and Straight Jet. After that is Sphere! Sphere is one of the reason I'm here today! Previously Sea*A and Kuribayashi Minami's performance were streaming live on nico nico douga, but Sphere's one will not be stream. So, thos who watching via nico nico douga had to wait till May'n's turn. The first song Sphere perform is Future Stream! That is the opening theme of Hatsukoi Limited, which is also the song that makes me know about Sphere. After that Sphere also sang 2 anime cover song, which are Sailor Moon OP - Moonlight Densetsu and Mahou Sensei Negima OP - Happy Material. I was wondering why they didn't sing Bakuman season 3 ED - Pride on Everyday. The single was already released on 7/11/2012, which is few days before AFA. The last artist to perform on the last concert of AFA is May'n! Honestly, I don't know about May'n's song other than Chase the world. I also know few songs which SEAMO was featuring, but those are not anime song.

So, that's all. After the concert I went back to my aunty house and the next morning I take bus back to KL. I will upload photos to this post later, need some time to choose and arrange. 2 weeks after AFA ended finally done my post... yeah I'm just lazy...

Jrock no Tamashii 3 concert

Jrock no Tamashii 3 concert was on last Saturday (1st September). At first I still not sure whether I should go or not, firstly because the ticket was quite expensive (RM88), secondly because I don't know the artist that came from Japan (HaKU). However, at last I decided to go because my friend said that she can get cheaper ticket for me because his brother's band is also performing in the concert.

Jrock no Tamashii concert is part of the event of Taylor's Asaban Festival 2012. On that morning, I was wondering whether I should go to Taylor's Asaban Festival or not because the event schedule don't have any events that attracts my attention. I wanted to go just for the concert at 7pm, but ended up I went for the event around 2pm. It was my first time going to Taylor's Lakeside Campus, but fortunately I went there without getting lost thanks to Google Map. The campus was so damn big compared to my college, at least like 5 to 7 times larger. The environment there is really good.

So, I bought ticket for Day 1 (RM0) and went in, and it's quite disappointing. The area is quite small, but this is okay for me since it's an event inside college, but the booth available is poor. Almost 100% of the booths there are same with AMG, and even lesser. And yeah, those booths sell bootleg figures. Stage performance, O.M.G... I have no idea what they're performing as those songs are some heavy metal songs, not anime-related songs, not Japanese songs. The first time in anime event I had to put on my headset from beginning till the end to avoid listening the songs. I also participate the Moekana competition by Culture Japan. It's my first time playing though. Seems like knowing Hiragana it's not an advantage, as the romaji is written on the card. I lost, but I got a Moekana card for participating. I meet a friend opening booth in the hall, and as usual, I'm slacking at my friend's booth.

About 4pm, most exhibitors start to pack their booth and leave the hall for concert preparation, but according to schedule it's suppose to be at 5pm. Well, I had no choice but leave and go to have my late lunch at Old Town. After lunch I walk around to have a look at the campus. Many cosplayers still taking photo around the event area.

no idea what's that character, maybe just a normal meido

AniManGaki 2012

Last Saturday and Sunday was AniManGaki 2012. It was an anime event held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Center. I went there for both days.

Day 1, I managed to wake up at 8.40am, as I only slept for around 5 hours. I am ready to go at 9am, but still waiting for my friend, as yesterday he said want to follow my car. After waiting for 45 mins, I couldn't wait any longer, because the event is gonna start at 10am. So, I left my house at 9.45am and drive to Sunway Pyramid. It's a Saturday morning, so the traffic is quite clear. I reached there in 10 mins using LDP. As usual, whenever I go to Sunway Pyramid, I will always park just outside the convention center, because there always have space. As expected, I managed to find parking slot immediately after I reach there. It was just nearby the entrance of the convention center. Once I entered the event hall, I can see long queue at the ticket counter. Immediately I went in and queue too. After queuing for around 20 mins, finally I bought my tickets for 2 days. After getting the ticket, I did not enter the hall immediately. I went to McDonald's to have my breakfast. At McDonald's there's many cosplayers having their breakfast there too. After that, only I went back to the convention center and entered the hall. The hall is smaller than my expectation, because I thought they will be using few halls. I finish walking around the booths very fast. There are quite a few booths selling figures, but unfortunately, most of them are not genuine figures, totally same case like Comic Fiesta last year. There are like 2~3 booths selling genuine figures though, but nothing that I want to buy. After finished walking for a round, I went to Malaysia Vocaloid Party (M.V.P) booth, which is at the left side of the event stage. During AFAMY, I get to know some friends from M.V.P so I decided to visit their booth and slack there. Well, of course I didn't just stay at the booth and slack. I helped them to give out some stuffs and also look after the booth when they went out for group photo. From morning till end of day 1, I just sit at the booth and watch the stage performance from the booth. The stage events are quite entertaining. After the end of day 1, I didn't stay back to have dinner with them because I had to rush back to Sri Petaling for barbeque gathering with my friends.

Day 2, I also managed to wake up early and I went to Vista Komanwel A to fetch my friend. Yesterday he overslept. After picking up he and his friend, I use back LDP to go there, because I not really sure the KESAS way. Today I totally didn't walk around the booth and straight stay at M.V.P booth since morning. day 2 stage performances are also very nice, and most of the songs they performed are the songs I'm familiar with too. Especially when they perform YUI's song, I rush to the front of the stage and sing along too. Around 3pm, I participate the AniManGaki Otaku test. Actually I wanted to take the intermediate test too, but during that time I went out for lunch. The questions for the Otaku test is really though, and I almost couldn't answer any of those without using Google. The last 6 challenging questions I totally couldn't answer any. However, the winner of the Otaku test is my friend from M.V.P and he won himself a huge Hatsune Miku Plushie. When the event almost end, I helped them to clear the booth and bring stuffs to his car. After that, we went to KFC for dinner before going home. During the dinner it's kinda awkward, because within the 11 person, I'm the only one not from M.V.P. Fortunately most of the topics talked during the dinner are related to anime. Normally within my friends, I'm the one known as Otaku because most of my friends don't watch anime or manga. After today, I know that my level of Otaku cannot be called as Otaku at all, because almost any of them watched a lot more anime than me and had a lot more knowledge of anime than me. Thanks M.V.P for letting me to slack at their booth for both day! Too bad I heard they won't be having booth in events until further notice.

Culture Japan Night Malaysia

Culture Japan Night was an event held by Danny Choo for comrades who share a passion on Japanese Pop Culture. If you don't know who is Danny Choo, you will need some reading about him. I also just know about Danny Choo like a year ago from Culture Japan.

Culture Japan Night Malaysia was held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Level 6, outside of Tonkatsu Japanese Restaurant. The event starts at 5pm to 10pm, and I arrived at 4.30pm. I park at Pavilion parking, which I know the parking fee will be damn expensive (first hour RM3, each hour RM2 and max RM15). When I arrived, they are still setting up the place for Culture Japan Night, but there are already some people queuing there already. I meet my friend Eddie there with his friend Alvin. They said they actually reached even early, but no one was there, so they walk around. They even spotted Danny in a restaurant being interview, and they went to take photos of him too. Not long after 5pm, Danny appear at the venue, and gave a short speech before we start entering the event area. We're like the first 20 person in the queue, and we were so exciting and expecting some freebies for people who come early xD well, of course, it didn't happen. When the event starts, Danny sits in front of the stage and all people can queue up to get his autograph and take photo with him. In a short while, there are 2 long queue at the venue area. I thought of queuing later as the later will have less people queuing. Unfortunately, my expectation is always different from reality. The queue is getting longer and longer, until 9pm still freaking long queue. So, I gave up and start queuing in the long queue. At last, I get to take photo with him, but didn't get his autograph because I help my friend to get Danny's autograph on his Racing Miku Holder, and one person can get autograph on one item. Well, I guess Danny will be having more Culture Japan Night in Malaysia in the future, so I will definitely get his autograph one day. I also get a Moekana card and Danny's name card from him. There's a lucky draw also, and I thought I won... For the Doraemon doll, when announcing the lucky person, "3... 2..." and I was thinking "OH MY GOD 32 THAT'S ME", but then it continues... "9! it's 329!" and I was like :okay.jpg: After that, it's already 10pm, and most people are leaving already. From last night experience in AFAMY, I learned that staying back in events sometimes will have good things happen, and this time it actually happen! Danny ask all the remaining people to have a group photo! Other than group photo, Danny also filmed us shouting "You're watching Culture Japan!", and he say this will be air in Culture Japan season 3! After taking the group photo, me and my friends also leave Pavilion and go home.

Anime Festival Asia Malaysia 2012

Day 0
Firstly, on Friday, it is Anime Festival Asia Malaysia (AFAMY) Day 0, which is the press preview event of AFAMY. The press preview basically is to introduce the special guests of AFAMY and also selling tickets for AFAMY. The tickets that are sold there are Festival access, Festival + Stage full access, Free standing concert ticket and VIP concert ticket. Tickets start selling from 8am if not mistaken, and the press preview starts at 6pm. I go there around 3pm with my friend and bought the tickets. When I arrive there, there was no queue at the ticketing booth at all. Quite lucky I guess, because I remember at the morning I saw photo posted by AFA, showing a long queue waiting to buy tickets. I bought 8 tickets for Saturday and 2 tickets for Sunday. 2 tickets on both day is for me and my friend, and the rest I help other friends to buy. All tickets are Festival + Stage full access. After buying the tickets, we went to Shikiya Restaurant to wait till the press preview time. At there, I also meet some new friends from a Facebook Anime Group. About 5pm, we go back to the stage and saw huge crowd out there. The ticketing booth having long queue and the front of the stage is full of people. Fortunately, I found an excellent spot to have a good view of the stage and take photo. 2 new friends I just met took out a drawing block and start drawing a fansign, as he just had art class before coming here. The fansign they draw attracts lots of photographer to take photo of them, and they even get interviewed. Around 6pm, the press preview starts, and the emcee of the press preview is Danny Choo and Ferlyn Yoshimi. They introduced the guests that come for AFAMY. The guests are celebrity cosplayer from Japan, KANAME☆ and celebrity cosplayer group, SP Cats from Korea. Other than that, japanese artist that will have concert in AFAMY are Aimi, Kalafina, Kurosaki Maon, Sea☆A, KOTOKO and FLOW. the photos of AFAMY 2012 Day 0 can be found in my Facebook album.

Day 1
On Saturday, I done preparing myself to AFAMY at about 5am. I actually didn't sleep for whole night, because the night before this I went home about 1.30am after yumcha with my friends. Then, after bath and watch some anime, it's already 3am. I wanted to sleep for few hours but at the end I could not sleep. Guess I'm too excited? *are you elementary school kids who are excited to go for picnic? Orz* On day 1, I did not drive there. The first reason is I not sure how much is the parking price at there, secondly I don't know where PWTC actually is. So, me and my friend decided to take LRT. I did some googling, and found out that from Sri Petaling LRT can straight away reach PWTC. Unfortunately, not long after we board the LRT, I heard news that LRT from Sentul to PWTC is not working, and we had to go down from Sultan Ismail station. After getting down from there, we actually wanted to take taxi to PWTC, but because there are too many people there waiting for taxi, so we decided to walk over there since it's still early. I use the GPS apps installed on my phone to get the direction to PWTC. We walked around 20 mins, 2km distance to reach there. On the way of walking, I pass by my mum's office and then I roughly know where PWTC is now. After we get into PWTC, we started to queue to get in the hall. The first thing to see when you get into the hall will be the Mirai Itasha. Damn feel like I'm typing some really long essay, because I really got many things to talk about. Guess I will just focus on some important part. The best part of Day 1 is the presentation of Culture Japan by Danny Choo. During the presentation, Danny shared his experience about how he get into his job and many stuffs, and he really inspired me a lot. He made me think that I can fulfill my dream to Japan too if I work hard on it. For photos of Day 1 will be available here

Day 2
On Sunday, although the LRT was already fixed when I return from PWTC, but today I decided to drive there, as I already roughly know where's the location of it, and my friend told me some parking nearly only cost RM3 per entry. Before starting the journey to there, I went to 7-11 and bought a pack of chocolate buns for breakfast (and I actually only had the buns for breakfast, lunch and dinner). I used my phone GPS again, and reach there easier than what I expected. The parking area I park my car is just RM2.80 per entry. This time, we are able to enter the hall before opening, because we help our friends who are having a booth in there to take some stuffs in there. Actually my aim of today is camp at the event stage, since yesterday already walked around all the booths and nothing really attracts me. I was in the event stage since 9.52am until 3pm+, when the last event ends, which is the cosplay competition. After that, I went out to the ticket counter and meet up with some RO friends that came for AFAMY. After walking around with them for awhile, they're going back, and I went back to my friend's booth to rest. My friend's booth is Malaysia Vocaloid Party (MVP). I slack around there until around 6pm+, then I help them to pack stuffs and ready to go back. Suddenly, for some reason, few of us who are packing stuffs in the booth are able to watch the concert! This was my first Japanese artist concert *although last year I watched Shimokawa Mikuni sang right in front of me, but that was just few songs, not concert!* The few of us are so excited and we're so hype since the beginning of the concert till the end. I've never imagine that I'm able to listen KOTOKO singing Shooting Star right in front of me. That was the Opening Theme of Onegai Sensei, one of the first few anime that makes me start to watch anime when I'm form 4. When FLOW 's turn, KOTOKO was just sitting 2 rows behind me! She was there until before FLOW's encore. I'm not really familiar with FLOW, as I didn't really listen to their songs. However, one song the sang was the cover of Siam Shade song, 1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou, the ending theme of Rurouni Kenshin! Kohshi Asakawa from FLOW said, last year when Japan faces earthquake and tsunami, he felt so hopeless that music can't do anything to help. However, soon he realized that music can help people to overcome their fear. Music is Power! After the concert ends, we went home, and AFAMY 2012 ends officially. The photos can be found here.

In AFAMY 2012, although I didn't bought anything, but I obtained many great things like experience, resolution and new friends. I get to know many new friends from AFAMY, friends from Malaysia Vocaloid Party, AniMaVox, friends of friend and some from Twitter. We all share the same interest, and it really feels great when you have comrade that share same interest. In my school and college friends, not many people are really interested in anime and stuffs, and some might even think I'm weird *well, I'm an otaku, I admit it and I'm proud to be one* Looking forward for the next anime event!

Comic Fiesta 2011: Day 1

Today is the first day of Comic Fiesta 2011. This time the venue is at KLCC Convention Center, so I will be driving there myself. At the morning, after fetching my classmate from Bukit Jalil, then we start our journey to KLCC. This is just my second time driving to KLCC, so I still need to depend on GPS.

Reached KLCC without any problem, parked the car and walk to the Convention Center. We reach around 9am, and the queue for ticket purchase is so long. Luckily I pre-ordered my ticket last month, and the queue to redeem the pre-order ticket is quite short. After getting my ticket, it's just around 9.40am. The opening for people to go in is at 10am, but I saw CF's twitter saying that 10.30am only the hall will be open. So, me and my friends went down to have some food. After eating, it's around 10.50am, and we go back up to the hall, because the opening ceremony is at 11am according to the schedule. When we got back up, the KLCC staffs blocked the road and not letting us to go in. A very long queue outside the building, and all people are shouting for it. After awhile, the CF staffs come and allows those who already had their ticket to go in, so we went in. The hall this time is bigger than last year, but the crowd increased much more compare to last year.

I just walk around to wait until 1.30pm for Shimokawa Mikuni's performance. Around 1pm, I started to stand in front the stage and wait for 1.30pm, so that I can get a good seat to watch the performance. When 1.30pm, the CF MCs asked those people who are in front the stage to sit down, and I sat on the second row. The first performer is Ceui, a Japanese artist who sings anime theme songs. After that, it's Mikuni's turn. The crowd went crazy when she came out, I guess because most of us had been listening to her songs since long time ago. The most well-known song of hers is Sore ga Ai Deshou, theme song of Full Metal Panic. I really enjoyed the performance, because this is the first time I really see a Japanese artist right in front of me. Some of my friends couldn't come in to the hall to watch the performance, thanks to the KLCC staffs. After the performance, they say 5pm will have a autograph session with them, only to those who purchased their official merchandise at their booth. I immediately went to queue up, and was in quite in front of the queue. When my turn to purchase, all Mikuni's DVD were sold out. Then I saw one more display unit on the table, and I asked them whether I can have it or not. They agree to sell that, and just when I'm taking my money to get it, another guy beside me who just finished purchasing took that album and say he wants it. The staff said he was in front of me, so he will get it. So, ends up I could not get the DVD, and also couldn't get the signature.

After that, I went out to have my lunch at 3pm at Kenny Rogers. After lunch, I went back up and once again it was blocked by the KLCC staff. It is raining and all people are stucked outside cannot get in. After sometime, finally they let us in, but still we had to queue up at the ticket purchasing hall to go in, because they say the crowd inside is too much. After queuing for quite some time, it's already 5pm and I still can't get it. I was thinking even if I can't get Mikuni's signature, at least I want to take some photographs, because during the performance just now photos and video recording are not allowed. At around 5.15pm, finally I get into the hall, and Mikuni is already signing for those who bought the DVD. I walk near to the stage and take photos of her, and saw some people just take the poster for her to sign. I immediately go to purchase a piece of poster and go queue up for signature. When almost my turn, I saw the few person in front of me are taking photo with Mikuni. So, I take out my camera and hoping to get mine too. When my turn to go up the stage, the staff tell me that we cannot take photo anymore. So, I just pass my poster to Mikuni for signature, talked few sentences with her and went down the stage.

After that, I just sit at the cafeteria to have some rest, and wait till 8pm for the premier of Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo. Although I already watched it, but I was hoping this will have a little bit extra scene from the DVD version I downloaded and watched last week. So, around 8.10pm the movie starts, and I'm sitting at the second row to watch. Actually I was planning to leave the hall and go home before the movie start, because I'm quite tired already. But, the MC says that poster of the movie will be given at the end of the movie, and few of them were signed by Shinkai Makoto. So, I decided to stay back and finish the movie. Sitting on the semen floor for 2 hours to watch the movie is really so suffering. After the movie, they announced that the posters and folders are limited, so the person who answers the correct answer will get the stuff. I'm quite confident, because they say the questions will be related to the movie. I already watched it few times at home, so I think I should be able to answer easily. After several questions, the MCs don't know what to ask, and they started to ask questions about CF. I was managed to get a chance to answer one question, but I answered wrongly. After that the questions went back about the movie, and I managed to answer again. The question was how many movies of Shinkai Makoto were officially in theater or something like that, and I answered 3. I know I was correct, but the MC says I'm wrong, and some other people answer 2 and he get the folder. After that the MC know he made mistake, and he gave another folder to another person, but not to me. I was almost giving up, and then at last I managed to answer one more question again, which is the english name of the movie The place promised in our early days. So, I was able to get a file folder with Shinkai Makoto's signature!

After that, CF day 1 ended, and I go to take my car and go home. I was jammed nearby Pavillion for around an hour, just because a road construction that causes bottle neck. I went to the mamak stall I usually go, because my friends are there too. They just finished watching the concert at Bukit Jalil Stadium. I went there to have my dinner. Just when I finished my dinner, when I wanted to pay the bill, I found out that my wallet was missing. I remember when I walk into the restaurant, my wallet is still in my pocket. Must be dropped somewhere and people took it or some pickpocket stole it from my pocket. After finding around for quite some time, I gave up. I came home and called the banks to canceled my credit cards and atm card. My plan for CF day 2 was canceled, because my IC and driving license are gone too. Tomorrow will had to make a police report to get my IC back.

When having dinner I was thinking that "OMG why today so many good stuffs happened on me?" I was able to meet Mikuni, watch her performance, talk to her, shake her hand, and get her signature. I also get Shinkai Makoto's signature folder. So, the god must be jealous on me and decided to give me a bad thing to fucked up my day, and my wallet was missing. So, that's all for today.

P/S: today also managed to meet some old friends from Ragnarok Online in CF: Jason, Selicia, h0s, Coffee, Kimmy

Conclusion, total gain and lost of the day:
Gain:
1) meet old friends
2) meet Mikuni, watch her performance
3) shake hand and talk with Mikuni, get her autograph
4) get Shinkai Makoto's signature file folder

Lost:
1) Wallet
2) Cash
3) Documents (IC, driving license, credit card, atm card, student ID)

Comic Fiesta 2009

Yes, Comic Fiesta, the largest ACG event in Malaysia. Few months ago during AHF 2009, I already pre-order a 2 days ticket for 1 person. After waited for so long, finally CF 2009 reach. I already submitted my assignments last week, and my holiday starts on Friday. It's time for me to relax! On Friday, Jason also came KL for CF 2009, and he stay in Ken's house. I went to meet them at night at Sunway Pyramid for yumcha session. It's my first time driving alone to Sunway Pyramid, and fortunately I did not lost my way. I take it as a practice for the following next 2 days, because CF 2009 is held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.

Day 1
I reached there at around 10.30am, and all people there is still preparing and waiting for the opening. After getting my ticket from the counter, I met Coffee aka Er Whey, a friend from IvaliceRO. After Jason reached, then we go in to CF 2009. We just simply walk around inside, and of course, snapping photos of those cosplayers. So, we just lepak inside there and watch the stage performance, until around 5pm, Jason got to go for Meow's gathering I think, then I also go home.

Day 2
The event of day 2 start around 1.30pm, which is the Solo Cosplay Competition. I think of leaving around 1pm, and I can reach there in time. But then, I was playing Dragonica, pvping with someone, and I leave my house around 2pm. When I reach the toll at Damansara - Puchong Highway, all the cars start queuing there. I was stuck there like 1 hour. There were few cars had accident before Sunway Medical Center, and make the whole place jam like hell. I reached Sunway Pyramid around 3pm. Today there are more cosplayers, and most of their cosplay are damn nice. Yesterday I take photo using Jason's camera, but today he's not with me, so I can't take any photo. I tried to take photos with my phone, but my phone's camera sucks, most of the photos can't make it. I bought the CF 2009 T-Shirt souvenir. During the closing of CF 2009, all the cosplayers ran up the stage and dance until the closing time. Many participants went up and dance too. I just sit there and look at the stage until all people stop, and I went home. This time I really enjoy very much, unlike last year, I just go there for few hours and went home, because I don't have car yet during that time. Next year I will go to CF again for sure, if nothing special happens.

I thought of going to EOY 2009 @ Singapore at 26/12/2009, but my grandma is having a birthday celebration that day, so I can't go... Makino Yui is the special guest of EOY 2009, and there's a Makino Yui Concert after EOY... Damn I wanna go... Hope Mun Wai can meet Makino Yui at EOY, and take some photos with her :(

EOY 2009 Plan Cancled

Actually I wanted to go to Singapore on 26th December to attend this EOY 2009, some anime related event. Last week my mum tell me my grandma is going to have her birthday celebration either on 25 or 26 December. So, I can't go to Singapore on those few days. There are few reasons that make me want to go for that event. Firstly, I want to see the anime event on Singapore so badly, because after going so many anime event in Malaysia, I feel that Malaysia anime event quality is quite poor. I think Singapore's event will be a lot better compare to Malaysia. Secondly, this year EOY special guest is Makino Yui ! She's having a concert that day during the EOY. I'm a big fan of Makino Yui ! Makino Yui is the seiyuu of Sakura in Tsubasa Chronicles and Misaki in NHK ni Youkoso. She also sing songs for the anime, which are very very nice songs, such as Yume no Tsubasa, Amrita and Modokashii Sekai no Ue de. Hope someone will record down the whole concert and post it so that I can watch =(

Anime Hanabi Festival 2009

Sunday went to Anime Hanabi Festival 2009 at Times Square. I actually wanted to go on Saturday too, but doing other stuffs, so I only go on Sunday. As usual, I still don't know how to drive there, so I take LRT. When reached Times Square, I was attracted by another crowd. Then only I know that Bosco Wong will be at Times Square at 1pm to promote the game MoneyKing. I stand there awhile and waited, and I headed to the Anime Hanabi Festival 2009 before Bosco appears. This is my first time attending Anime Hanabi Festival, and seriously, not as good as I expected, maybe because it is the 2nd day, most people came on the 1st day. The cosplay contest... so so only, compare to Singapore. I love the singing contest, many of them sing very well. Other than that, nothing much already, and yet I can stay there from 1pm to 6pm. I reached back Sri Petaling LRT around 6.40pm, get my car and join my family for dinner at Restaurant Sin Chua Kee @ Kuchai Lama.

Updated some photos @ 24/11/2009
